How To Get Your "Writing" Gears Turning

Ever stare at a blank page, feeling stuck?

Here's a little trick I discovered that use to get "unstuck."

Every morning, I open up a Google doc and write a letter to my unborn daughter.

Not an email.

Not a social post.

Just a simple letter.

I write about anything - how excited I am to meet her, wondering what her laugh will sound like, imagining our future adventures together, or lessons I want to teach her.

Sometimes it's deep stuff about life. Other times it's just "your dad stayed up way too late again dreaming about holding you."

But here's the thing...

Within 5 minutes of doing this, something happens.

The words start flowing naturally. The creative block disappears.

Before I found out I was going to be a dad, I'd do this same exercise differently:

- Writing about the weird dream I had

- Describing the guy at the gym who grunts too loud

- Complaining about my brother eating my leftovers

- Documenting the time I spent 20 minutes trying to save a rolly polly from drowning in a puddle

- Making a list of things I need to get done

- Writing about that one time in high school when...

It doesn't matter what you write about.

The topic is irrelevant.

What matters is that you just write.

No pressure. No expectations.

No trying to be clever or creative or profound.

Just words on a page about whatever pops into your head.

Try it tomorrow morning. Open a blank doc and write about literally anything for 5 minutes.

You'll be amazed at how much easier writing becomes after that.

And remember - sometimes the simplest tricks are the most powerful.

This one's helped me write thousands of pieces of content over the years. Hope it helps you too.
